Due to the earthquake of April 25, 2015 with a magnitude of 7.8. Majority of houses in the affected mountain area are gone. Children lost opportunities to go to school. Many village families request Venerable Lopen Tsewang Tobden to accept their kids so that they can receive Buddhist education in monastery. However, the current monastery has limited space to hold more children. The committee of Palyul Theckchen Ling Monastery decided to build a Buddhist monastery and university in Nayapati of Kathmandu, Nepal.
The first stage construction of Palyul Theckchen Monastery will be able to hold about 150 to 200 Buddhist monks. There will have grade one until grade 12. The second stage will be a Buddhist university for both Tibetan and Chinese Buddhist study.
