The Four Holy Mountains

Wu Tai Shan 

Wu Tai Shan, means five-terraced mountain and refers to the five flat peaks in the area. Temples here are dedicated to Manjushri, the Bodhisatva of wisdom and virtue.

Emei Shan

Emei Shan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the temples here are dedicated to the Bodhisatva Puxian (Samantabhadra).

Putuoshan

The temples here are dedicated to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, or Guanyin, the goddess of mercy and compassion.

Jiuhua Shan

The temples here are dedicated to Bodhisatva Kshitigarbha, the Bodhisattva of the greatest vow.
